inspiring fans to embrace their identities through music.

@marshallxyz is a Korean American, queer singer and songwriter who is changing music one track at a time. We love how his multifaceted identity shapes his work in such a unique way, bringing messages of joy and acceptance to his listeners.

From a creative standpoint, what do you give? Loving and accepting who you are is my lifelong mantra - especially if you’re on the queer spectrum. It’s been a journey of self-discovery and fulfillment - I’m proud to be Korean and I’m proud of my own special brand of queer-ness.

When you have a creative block where or what do you turn to for inspiration? I love going on hikes and enveloping myself in nature. I love discovering underrated or obscure music especially from the 70s, 80s, 90s. I used to love digging around the local flea market for records in bargain bins. Lately, I've been really getting into the horror/thriller genre of films.

What role does instax play in your creative process? I love being able to carry around tangible mementos of my process - it helps to visualize my songwriting.

Do you have any current plans to take this to the next level? If so, what’s that next level look like for you? After releasing singles, EPs, and countless collaborations, I’m finally working on my first full-length solo album. It’ll be about 12-15 songs and I'll be returning to my R&B roots. Once the album is out by the end of the year, I wanna go on tour and travel the world meeting my fans face-to-face.

What’s your mantra in life? “Jump first, fear later”, “Stay WILD, Stay FREE”

What’s your go to snack when you’re creating? The apple fritters from Randy’s Donuts in the Hongdae neighborhood of Seoul.
